Memphis area students in high school or college interested in pursuing careers in non-profit arts production and management fields should contact Executive Director, John Weeden about current opportunities with the UrbanArt Apprentice program. More than an internship where students traditionally perform a few tasks only and gain a limited understanding of the operations of the whole organization, UrbanArt Apprentices garner an in-depth knowledge of the infrastructure, practices, relationships, and rationales that motivates UrbanArt in its work to cultivate a creative community through public art and design. In addition, students selected for the UrbanArt Apprentice program shall become familiar with the principles of arts advocacy that advance the relevance and wonder of public art among a variety of stake holders. UrbanArt works with each student's school to ensure they are granted credit, as the Apprentice position is unpaid.
