10am-2pm | ART MATTERS 2 Citizen Arts Advocacy - for community members interested in learning more about issues affecting the arts locally and nationally, and of how citizens can influence the public art process. Fee: $25.00 per person* This session will include an overview of the arts council and public art movement in the United States and recent developments in the contemporary arts organizations world. Come learn the history, the motivation and the inspiration of art in the public realm. Network with like-minded citizens passionate about the arts role in positively impacting our community, and learn what you can do to further cultivate a dynamic, vibrant, nurturing community through public art and design! |

10am-2pm | ART MATTERS 3 Professional Practices Workshop - for local artists interested in developing successful public art projects. Fee: $25.00 per person* We will describe UrbanArt processes and procedures in detail, show highlights from Americans for the Arts 'Public Art Year in Review' series of outstanding projects across the nation within the last 5 years, and provide extensive internet resources for research into public art and design practices worldwide. This session also includes a talk by Lynn Basa, Instructor of Public Art Professional Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A small administrative fee $25.00 per person will be charged to cover the cost of lunch and session materials. [NOTE: the student session is FREE of charge.]

Payments will be requested from only those with confirmed seating.
