Art Garcia is an artist and designer with 25 years of design and illustration experience. His success is the result of an approach that places equal emphasis on research and creativity to develop iconic installations and communication art that are memorable and on-target. Since 1990 Garcia’s artwork has been honored in Communication Arts, Graphis, American Illustration and The Annual of The American Institute of Graphic Arts. He has produced work for The City of Dallas, Georgetown, Southlake, New Orleans, The Meadows School of Art, The University of Texas at Dallas and The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the US Census.
Art recently completed a translucent solar exterior installation for BRW Architects and the Dallas Fire Departments’ Station 33, a sculptural seating element entitled Peaches at The Dallas Farmers Market, and two murals for the Dallas Public Library-Grawlyer Park Branch in which he collaborated with the community and Oglesby Green Architects. In addition he designed a bas-relief wall for the Lakehighlands community and TxDOT—Interstate Hwy 635 and Skillman Road in Dallas. Past installations which he has created and managed, encompass retail properties including signage for The Riverwalk in New Orleans, art and signage for Topanga Plaza in Canoga Park, CA. While communication is key to creating integrated environmental art, Garcia’s emphasis is to create art specific to the given environment and its community.
Art Garcia is a 1986 graduate of the Art Institute of Dallas with an Associates Degree in Visual Arts. In 1998 he founded Graphic Content on the principle of providing effective visual communication with extraordinary customer service. Garcia is a member of AIGA, America for the Arts and the Better Business Bureau. He has served on the board of the Dallas Advertising League and is a fellow member of AIGA Dallas. Garcia has guest lectured at the Art Institute of Dallas, the University of North Texas and South Arkansas State University.
